Who is Priti Khanna?
I am a linguist by training and an artist by choice. Vibrant color is an important aspect of my work. I love the textural effects of oil and acrylic paints.
My art depicts everyday moments from my native India – mother with child, sisters talking, or a village celebration.
I want my paintings to tell a story. Each vignette emerges from a time long ago in my consciousness. The life scenes that I choose are the ones that delight and capture my imagination.
The subjects come alive as real people with distinct personalities in paint and strokes.
The completed piece is altered from the thought to the visual. This transformation is a joy in itself. When the subjects relay the same emotion that I am feeling- the painting is complete.
